The Internet Directory of Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The goal ?
This global platform to facilitate exchanges on traditional forms of expression has been established in direct response to UNESCO's recommendations with a view to enhancing, preserving and revitalising the national intangible cultural heritage of countries, regions and communities.
The method ?
The information is collected directly from actors of knowledge and traditions, i.e. from locals. It will therefore reflect their cultural diversity and the multiple forms of expression of their identity. At the same time, it will also make them aware of the wealth and value of this shared heritage.
The directory was devised in an electronic format so as to be accessible to all: it can be transferred and reproduced as required, and can easily be adapted to the specific needs of each state or community.
The result ?
At present the site comprises the following complementary parts :
Registration and consultation are both free of charge!
- 1. Cultural diversity : The national directories of actors of cultural heritage
- 2. Table of expertise : The international directory of experts in traditional culture
Using the directory ?
With the directory being accessible on the Internet, it will be possible to categorise and select reliable information in accordance with a certain number of established criteria. The information will be continually updated and validated.
